Sammie
Lee
Hill,
actor/songwriter
was
born
in
San
Francisco,
California,
in
1950,
and
was
raised
in
north
Richmond.
He
is
currently
working
at
Richmond
High
School
in
the
capacity
as
Community
Relations
Worker.
He
is
also
a
mentor
at
his
school
and
teaches
workshops
for
students
in
music
publishing
and
copyrights.
Sammie
has
been
mentoring
about
40-50
students
per
school
year.
His
success
as a
Lyricist
has
earned
him
numerous
awards
on a
national
and
international
level.
In
fact,
he
received
recognition
from
the
WHITE
HOUSE
with
a
letter
of
praise
from
President
George
W.
Bush
for
writing
this
poignant
mentoring
song.
Also,
he
received
a
special
recognition
popular
songwriter’s
award
from
the
American
Society
of
Composers,
Authors
and
Publishers
(ASCAP).
This
particular
award
was
recognized
for
the
“International
Mentor
Theme
Song”
for
its
unique
prestigious
value
for
children
across
the
Globe.
This
same
song
was
endorsed
and
adopted
on
September
14,
2004,
as
the
International
Mentor
Theme
Song
for
the
Youth
Empowerment
Seminars
in
New
Zealand.
Also,
the
song
was
endorsed
and
adopted
by
Mentors
International,
Inc,
on
December
30,
2003.
In
fact,
Sammie
was
recently
nominated
for
an
“International
Award”
for
the
2005,
World
of
Children,
Inc.
This
song
is
his
contribution
for
World
Peace
and
he
made
a
pledge
to
donate
portion
of
the
proceeds
from
the
mentor
song
to
youth
and
mentoring
programs,
which
will
assist
students
on
an
educational
level
for
higher
learning.
This
poignant
song
is
the
official
state
of
California
“Mentor
Appreciation
Day”
theme
song.
The
Bill
(ACR
122)
was
authored
by
Senator
Tom
Torlakson
and
was
chaptered
by
the
Secretary
of
state
on
April
26,
2000.
In
fact,
this
is
the
first-ever
“International
Mentor
Theme
Song”
in
World’s
History.
Sammie
believe
that
the
song
will
eventually
be
placed
in
the
“GUINNESS
BOOK
OF
WORLD
RECORDS.
The
song
made
the
“Runners
Up”
in
the
2004
UK
Songwriter’s
Contest
and
is
being
considered
for
the
“Song
For
A
Better
World”
cd,
which
is
part
of
the
WORLD
MUSIC
FOUNDATION
and
the
UNITED
NATIONS.
In
fact,
MENTORS
MAGAZINE
was
so
inspired
with
the
material;
they
did
a
cover
story
on
Sammie
and
his
incredible
song
in
September
’04.
On
January
1,
2006,
during
National
Mentor
Month;
Sammie
was
interviewed
on
WTQT
94.9
radio
talk-show
in
Baton
Rouge,
Louisiana.
In
fact,
the
producers
were
so
inspired
with
Sammie’s
material;
they
have
invited
him
to
speak
on
their
television
show
in
May
’06.
This
poignant
song
is
dedicated
to
all
mentees
and
mentors
across
the
globe.
The
song
will
be
used
as
the
title
song
in a
worldwide
documentary
entitled
“Touched
By A
Mentor”
which
is
currently
in
production.
Also,
the
song
will
be
used
as
the
co-theme
song
for
a
motion
picture
called
“The
Mentor”
which
will
begin
filming
May
’06.
Sammie
is a
member
in
good
standing
with
the
American
Society
of
Composers,
Authors
and
Publishers.
He
is
also
a
distinguished
member
of
the
Songwriter’s
Guild
of
America,
the
International
Society
of
Poets
and
the
Screen
Actors
Guild.
He
played
the
role
of a
uniform
Police
Sergeant
Background/Principle
actor
on
the
“Nash
Bridges”
television
show
for
the
entire
six
seasons
with
Don
Johnson
and
Cheech
Marin.
Sammie
has
also
been
in
several
films
and
television
commercials.
He
will
also
play
a
role
as a
Police
Sergeant
in
the
upcoming
motion
picture
“The
Mentor.”
Sammie’s

of
CASTIMAGES
in
Sacramento,
California.
